The opposite spectrum of thought is that people who pirate a game are lost sales, but that's not always true. Many who like the game end up buying it after. Word of mouth is powerful, but not enough people try the game without piracy basically giving them a full demo. They may after a ton of reviews (from fans, not professionals) praising the game, but many of those fans originally came from pirated copies themselves. Many people dont blindly buy janky indie titles out of the blue.

It has many similarities with Warband in that respect. It's also a somewhat obscure, janky, indie game. KCD will boost it's sales numbers precisely due to people that tried it first on a pirated copy, loved the effort put into it, and wanted to support the devs afterword. Those that pirate it will not all buy it, but many will. Kingdom Come Deliverance is a great example of the same kind of situation repeating itself.

Bannerlord will be successful mostly due to the fans Warband grabbed, and those fans only came in many cases due to piracy. It wouldve bombed without piracy promoting it. It's an obscure, janky, indie game that came out before indie games were popular. Many people would not have bought the game without trying it first. Simply put, Warband would NOT have come close to the sales numbers it did without pirating. They bought it after, because we all appreciated the work put into it. This isn't Facebook.Īlmost everyone I've ever met playing Warband has pirated it originally. More likely, you're just a liar.Īlso, learn how to spell and use correct grammar, jackass. No, I'm almost positive you've downloaded something illegally in the past, otherwise you're either technologically inept, or you grew up (and remain at heart) a spoiled rich kid. You've probably downloaded music before, right? Maybe you downloaded or streamed a movie previously? Maybe you got a free activation key for some utility program? If you've never even used Napster or Limewire back in the day, then you're a fucking unicorn whose clearly a sheltered trust fund baby. They dont do it only because they don't know what they're doing or how to do it. Have you never used the internet? How technologically inept can you be at 32? I'm the same age, and I've never met anyone that has never pirated anything, beyond our parent's generation and older.
